Erasmus Changes – German Gymnasium and Realschule Ka1 Projects with LXI

In response to the newly announced Erasmus Germany changes, Language Xchange Ireland (LXI) has refined and expanded our Work Experience Mobility programmes in Ireland to ensure schools, teachers, and students benefit from a seamless and compliant experience. These updates are designed to strengthen the delivery of Ka1 projects, enhance preparation for international placements, and guarantee that every participant enjoys a successful and sustainable programme.

Students and teachers can now access five tailored Ka1 Work Preparation e‑learning modules: Level I for B1 English, Level II for B2 English, Level III for C1 English, a Catering and Food Industry module, and an Agriculture in Ireland and Agri Safety module. Certification is awarded once more than 350 questions are completed, requiring approximately four hours of online study over two months. This innovation removes the burden from supervising teachers, reduces classroom time pressures, and ensures that Erasmus projects in Ireland begin on a stronger footing, leading to more successful outcomes.

To simplify administration, two invoices are issued: one covering the Erasmus mobility project and its complete management, and a second invoice of €50 per participant to assist schools in sourcing Irish placements. With Irish Transition Year students also competing for local work experience opportunities, LXI’s structured approach ensures that German schools can secure high‑quality internships and placements in Ireland.

Teachers select the most suitable work placements for their students, while LXI manages the assignment process, matching participants with local host families and handling logistics from our extensive database of more than 500 host families across the South East of Ireland. At the conclusion of the programme, Irish host companies sign and stamp documentation, with LXI staff driving supervising teachers to each placement for final evaluations. This eliminates the need for car hire and ensures that every student’s work experience is properly validated.

By following this model, schools and Ka1 projects remain fully GDPR compliant, environmentally sustainable, Erasmus compliant, and on schedule. Our objective is to guarantee that every programme takes place on time, delivering authentic and meaningful work experience in Ireland for all involved.
